General information, not advice
Everything on MTD Submission, including the guides, the MTD checker, the deadline information and the setup checklist, is general information about Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. It isn’t tax, financial, legal or accounting advice, and it doesn’t take your circumstances into account. Using the site doesn’t create an adviser–client relationship of any kind.
MTD Submission doesn’t provide regulated financial advice or personal tax advice.
Not HMRC
MTD Submission is independent. It isn’t run by, affiliated with or endorsed by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), GOV.UK or the UK Government. Making Tax Digital is an HMRC programme, and we use the name only to describe the subject of this site.
We don’t submit anything
Despite the name, MTD Submission doesn’t submit quarterly updates, final declarations or returns. It doesn’t provide filing software, and it never asks for or accesses your HMRC account. To submit, you need software that works with MTD for Income Tax, or an accountant.
Accuracy, dates and the checker
Tax rules change. We review the site regularly, but information may be out of date or may not apply to you. Deadlines shown on the site are calculated from HMRC’s published rules and may not reflect your arrangements, such as calendar quarters, exemptions or anything HMRC has told you directly.
The MTD checker gives an indication based only on the figures you enter and the published thresholds. It doesn’t consider exemptions or special cases, and it isn’t a decision about whether MTD applies to you.
Check before you act
Before making decisions about your tax affairs, check HMRC’s guidance on GOV.UK or speak to a qualified accountant or tax adviser. Methodis Ltd isn’t liable for any loss, tax, penalty, interest or cost arising from reliance on this site. See our terms of use for full details.
